Solar Flares

What are solar flares?

A solar flare is a tremendous explosion on the Sun that happens when energy stored in ‘twisted’ magnetic fields (usually above sunspots) is suddenly released.

In a matter of just a few minutes they heat material to many millions of degrees and produce a burst of radiation across the electromagnetic spectrum, including from radio waves to x-rays and gamma rays.

Solar flares are actually different from “Coronal Mass Ejections” (CMEs), which were once thought to be initiated by solar flares.

CMEs are huge bubbles of gas threaded with magnetic field lines that are ejected from the Sun over the course of several hours. Although some are accompanied by flares, it is now known that most CMEs are not associated with flares.

This has important implications for understanding and predicting the effects of solar activity on the Earth and in space. If a CME collides with the Earth, it can incite a geomagnetic storm.

Large geomagnetic storms have (among other events) caused electrical power outages and damaged communications satellites. The energetic particles driven along by CMEs can be damaging to both electronic equipment and astronauts or passengers in high-flying aircraft.

Solar flares, on the other hand, directly affect the ionosphere and radio communications at the Earth, and also release energetic particles into space. Therefore, to understand and predict ‘space weather’ and the effect of solar activity on the Earth, an understanding of both CMEs and flares is required.

Solar Flare Classification

Solar flares are classified according to their brightness in the x-ray wavelengths. (Kinda like a tornado/ hurricane level scale like F1,F5 etc.

There are three categories:

X-class flares are the largest; they are major events that can trigger radio blackouts around the whole world and send long-lasting radiation storms in the upper atmosphere.

M-class flares are medium-sized; they generally cause brief radio blackouts that affect Earth’s polar regions. Minor radiation storms sometimes follow an M-class flare.

C-class flares are small with few noticeable consequences felt on Earth, especially compared to X-class and M-class events.

🌞 Personally for me (or any other highly senstive person) I can physically sense, notice, and feel these effects as an overwashing sense of extreme fatigue or extreme migraine/ headache that seems to come on strong out of seemingly nowhere. Many times I can tell we’re having one just from the suns daytime rays seem to physically feel increased for a time period especially when I’m outside (sunglasses anyone? 😎 don’t forget your sunscreen either! 😁 I’m sure there’s other people out there that can sense these and other cosmic events out there too! If you do I’d love to hear your experience!

So, yes Astrology! It’s one of my favorite things to learn and study every since I was a child. I spend absolutely every night possible outside under the moon and also moments when I wake up, many times taking a golden hour break to meditate and prepare for evening.

The Golden Hour is during and just after sunset when the sky is lit up more golden hues and a very spiritually healing time of the day (not great for driving though 😆)

What is Astrology?

Simply breaking down the word Astrology equates to “astro” = the sky “ology” – the study of. So Astrology is just the study of the sky. (cosmos, space etc) and the planets, stars and everything within it.

It’s great to get your full birth chart done. Zodiac itself means “Circle of Life”

Sidereal which is more true to the alignments in the sky

There’s many different astrological systems and charts. The main ones being tropical (which the USA tends to use for seasonal changes)

Vedic- which is eastern astrology and also follows the sidereal charting but also has further divisional charts within the charts

2022 Saturn Retrograde Transit Prompt

Saturn will officially go retrograde later today at exactly 2:46 PM PT | 5:46 PM ET.

Saturn isn’t always comfortable but crystallizes what is important. And I have definitely been learning that!

If you want to personalize this Saturn Retrograde for your Work, grab your natal chart and find the area of Aquarius 25° back to Aquarius 18°. Highlight that area to see:

1. Which house(s) contain that section
2. Detect angles that are impacted
3. Reveal planets that want a rebuild.
4. Reveal restructuring allies

During a Saturn Rx cycle, this tiny section of your chart is being highlighted and your natal energies that are being “pinged” by Saturn give you more specifics in what you need to revisit your systems and accountability in your Work.

Saturn retrograde is a great time to focus on what’s most important to you. It’s a time to reevaluate your commitments and decide which ones are worth your energy. A commitment is something we stick with long after we feel like doing it.

What natal energies are being impacted for you?

from Sept. 10 to Oct. 2, 2022, six planets were retrograde simultaneously, including Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. (So if those few weeks were a little wild for you, now you know why.) We are ending Saturn Retrograde October 23, 2022!
